MATERIAL WASTE IN CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS: CAUSES AND EFFECTS

Construction waste is one of the major concerns that need attention in any construction project. It should be controlled and tightly regulated. This approach reduces environmental impact waste. Appropriate handling disposal garbage often require extra expenditure. Recently, several firms have placed immense efforts to reduce Wastes from building projects include physical non-physical ones. Solid a type rubbish falls under first category. Non-physical residue builds up during construction, extends completion time, increases money burden on Waste significant projects, if improperly managed, can lead cost overruns. Material needs appropriate starting pre-contract phase. study aims expose wasteful practices materials their causes sources. Several studies focused management research, while current focuses determining primary source project lifecycle. also offers two solution methods help managers control minimize projects. The planning process includes purchasing ideal materials, preparation an design schedule, site works. Thus, comprises handling, distribution protection, storage accounting, documentation record keeping, safety procedures, workers, maintenance machinery equipment. included analysis survey 60 questions given engineering consultants, including architects, civil, mechanical, electrical engineers, quantity surveyors Amman. response rate was 82%. Architects make 58% respondents, followed by civil structural engineers (22%), (9%), mechanical (11%). discovered 62% those who assessed data considered participants' work experience industry. Based results, main findings revealed sources are vandalism, waiting due equipment setup sharing, rework caused changes, problems material supplier delays, crew interference, for guidance examination.
